ATS receives Gold 2000 Supplier Performance award from Johnson Controls - only Canadian company to win

Cambridge, Ontario (December 6, 2000) - ATS Automation Tooling Systems Inc. today announced it has been awarded the 2000 gold supplier performance award by Johnson Controls (NYSE: JCI). The awards are made annually by Johnson Controls, a global market leader in automotive systems, to recognize
exemplary supplier performance.

ATS's award was one of just nine gold awards presented for 2000 to selected companies from Johnson Controls supply base. ATS was the only Canadian company to be so recognized this year.

This is the second supplier performance award ATS has received from Johnson Controls in the past two years and its first gold award. The awards recognize supplier performance on three levels -- gold, silver and bronze. Performance is measured in four key areas: quality; commercial; material and logistics; and service and engineering support.
