ATS Automation Tooling Systems' Shareholders Elect New Director at Annual Meeting

	  CAMBRIDGE, ON, Sept. 13 /CNW/ - ATS Automation Tooling Systems Inc. today
	  announced that William Biggar has been elected to the Board of Directors at
	  the Company's annual meeting of shareholders late yesterday afternoon in
	  Kitchener.
	      Mr. Biggar is Managing Director of Richardson Capital Limited, a Canadian
	  private equity firm. Mr. Biggar is an experienced business executive with more
	  than 25 years of experience. Prior to joining Richardson Capital, he held
	  senior management positions with MI Developments Inc, Magna International Inc.
	  and Cambridge Shopping Centres. He is a Chartered Accountant with a Bachelor
	  of Commerce degree and an M.B.A. from the University of Toronto.
	      Mr. Biggar joins an experienced Board that includes Larry Tapp, former
	  Dean of the Richard Ivey School of Business; Richard Campbell, President of
	  Seacoast Consulting and a former senior executive of Black & Decker; Robert
	  Ferchat, retired Chairman and CEO of Bell Mobility; Peter Janson, former
	  Chairman and CEO of the North American Operations of AMEC Inc.; Robert Luba,
	  President of Luba Financial Inc. and previously, President and CEO of Royal
	  Bank Investment Management; and, Ron Jutras, President and CEO of ATS.
	      Robert Tivy, a Director of ATS since 1992 and a key advisor to the
	  founder of ATS during the 1980s, retired from the Board but was appointed
	  Director Emeritus in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the
	  Company's development. Mr. Tivy has more than 40 years of business experience
	  earned while holding senior positions with General Telephone and Electronics
	  and Black and Decker and will remain an important source of knowledge and
	  insight for the Board.
