For the production of armatures used in automotive DC motors, appliance and power tool universal motors, as well as stators used in brushless motors, ATS designs and builds equipment to address high-speed, high-mix
environments to lower volume flexible manufacturing systems.
Our innovative armature and stator winders offers a number of patented features which make them ideally suited to a variety of manufacturing situations. Additionally, the upstream and downstream automation on our
armature and motor lines can be configured to handle many different product sizes.

The AWS 1000's unique dual-rotate
loader utilizes patented gripping of the armature shaft
on the non-commutator side to provide fast load and
unload. Dual-blade cutters, direct-drive flyer servos
and a variety of quick-change options combine to make
this a powerful and flexible machine. |

The highly compact,
single-station CTS 1000 commutator lathe performs a dual-cut
operation to deliver measurably superior quality. Combined
with an off-conveyor brushing station, the CTS 1000 provides
after-turning quality of 2 microns on bar-to-bar dimension
and 5 microns on runout dimension. |

ATS provides DC fusing
stations for either hook or slot commutator armatures.
Fitted with single or dual weld heads, ATS fusing stations
can be operated as stand-alone, or integrated into a complete
armature production system. Other features such as quick-change
fusing electrodes, load cell weld force monitoring and
fume extraction are available. |

ATS offers a range of
options for lamination stacking as well as shaft and commutator
assembly. Stations can be equipped to handle loose or
pre-stacked laminations. Available options for handling
loose laminations include adding and subtracting laminations,
turning laminations to provide lower imbalance properties
and a variety of adjustable features for quick changeover
between styles. All motions are sensed and all axes can
be equipped with force and distance monitoring to ensure
optimum product quality. |

The addition of the AFS 1000 single or dual head fuser integrated with the AWS 1000 armature winder provides winding and fusing functionality in a single cell. The fusing head
is mounted directly over the conveyor, allowing the wound armature to be fused before being lowered back onto the conveyor. In this way, the winder knows under which tang the start-and-stop leads are terminated
and can vary the fusing parameters for these 2 hooks. While offering a technical advantage, this solution also offers a cost advantage. |
